Latest Green Party Action Alerts

These are the most urgent issues that the Green Party needs your help on today.

Public demonstration against the planned Basin Reserve flyover (Wellington)

Despite public consultation urging against the Basin Reserve flyover, the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) has recently agreed on plans that would see construction begin in 2011/12. Of the submissions received by the GWRC regarding the flyover, 79% did not support its construction. We need YOU to show the Greater Wellington Regional Council that we have a VOICE and that their decision does not reflect OUR vision for the future.

Every vote counts – especially when you live overseas

As Co-Leaders of the Green Party, we are writing to ask you to give your party vote to the Greens at the upcoming general election. The Green Party has been working hard in Parliament to look after Aotearoa while you are away, and we are committed to making this a place you will be proud to come back to one day.

PLEASE HELP US TO GET RID OF THE HIGHLY TOXIC INSECTICIDE ENDOSULFAN

ERMA is currently reassessing New Zealand's use of the highly toxic and persistent insecticide endosulfan – and incredibly, they are proposing to allow its continued use on our fruit and vegetables and on sports fields, bowling greens, parks and airports. Endosulfan is one of the worst pesticides still used in New Zealand, in terms of its toxicity, chronic effects and environmental pollution. It is an old-style organochlorine related to DDT, which is why 55 countries have already banned it.

STOP TRANSIT'S TUNNELS

Transit have begun consultation on the Ngauranga to Airport Transport Strategy - and this could see more tunnels, more roads and more flyovers being built through the heart of our city.
