Enrol to vote
It is not too late to enrol.
The deadline for the paper role is the 8th of October.
- enrol online
- go to you nearest PostShop and fill out a form
- download the form here and send it off yourself
If you miss the October 8 deadline you can still vote! Your vote will be counted with other special votes. If you turn 18 between the 8th of October and the Election get onto it now! If you are 17 you can still enrol.
Overseas voting is a lot easier than it used to be.
If you are overseas you can
- go to your local diplomatic post
- enrol online
- download the form (as above) and send it off
- get a family member to enrol for you (for more info go to)
Check out details on the elections website overseas page. You can enrol on-line like everybody else, so long as you have been back to NZ in the last three years. You can't vote online though, your vote must be sent or faxed. Voting opens from 31 August for overseas votes and voting papers can also be downloaded. Your vote has to be received (either by mail, fax or by your local consulate) by the 16 September.
If you are otherwise engaged on voting day then you can still vote beforehand.
Special votes can be cast from 31 August. See the elections how to page.
If you live away from the electorate you are enrolled in, or you can't make it to a polling place on election day, you can still vote (see here form more info)
